Northeast Georgia's newest city will be holding its first-ever public festival this weekend, and it will also offer a chance for city residents to give input on its comprehensive plan.
The City of Mulberry in Gwinnett County will host the first-ever Mulberry Jam Festival from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Saturday at Duncan Creek Park on Braselton Highway. There will be food, live music, retail vendors and other activities. Among those activities will be the opportunity for citizens to give input on the city's comprehensive plan.
Lauren West, public information officer for the city, said the comprehensive plan served as the long-range policy guide for the city's future planning and growth.
"We just really want to get our community's input, especially because we are a newer city, on what they want the direction of the city to be for the foreseeable future," West said.
The Mulberry Jam Festival will be free and open to the public. Parking will be available at the neighboring 12Stone Church Hamilton Mill location.
