Hall County Schools have announced new interim principals for Lula Elementary School and Sugar Hill Elementary School.
Superintendent Will Schofield announced on Wednesday, June 10, his intent to recommend Jessica Burce as interim principal of Lula Elementary School and Sarah Lux as interim principal of Sugar Hill Elementary School. He will make both recommendations on Monday, June 22, at the scheduled board meeting.
Burce has served as assistant principal at Lula Elementary since 2023. She will replace Lynette Scheman, who was named last week as the next principal at Myers Elementary.
"I am honored and grateful for the opportunity to serve as interim principal of Lula," Burce said. "It is a privilege to work alongside the dedicated staff, students, and families who make this community so special. Having served as assistant principal at Lula for the last 3 years, I have had the opportunity to build meaningful relationships with our students, staff, and families and to witness firsthand the commitment, pride, and excellence that define our school community. I am excited to continue this work in a new capacity and to build upon the strong foundation already in place."
Burce taught at White Sulphur Elementary School for 16 years before transitioning into leadership. She served as assistant principal at White Sulphur from 2017 to 2022 and at Chicopee Woods Elementary School for the 2022-2023 school year before joining the Lula team as assistant principal in 2023.
Lux has served as assistant principal at Sugar Hill since 2025. She will replace Jeremy Boleman, who was named last week the next principal at Spout Springs Elementary.
"It is an honor to be given the opportunity of serving the Sugar Hill community in the role of principal," Lux said. "Over the last year, it has been a joy to learn and grow alongside the students, staff and families. I am grateful to Mr. Schofield and the Hall County School Board for allowing me to continue at Sugar Hill in this leadership capacity. I look forward to maintaining and growing our culture, high expectations and engagement for both students and staff."
Ms. Lux taught for 22 years at several Hall County elementary schools and served as the ESOL lead teacher during that time as well. She was named assistant principal at Oakwood Elementary School in 2022 where she served until 2025. At that time, she became assistant principal at Sugar Hill Elementary School.
