WEATHER: Gwinnett County under Tornado Watch through 11:00 p.m.

Tony Kozycki will be the Democratic nominee to run against Incumbent Republican Rich McCormick in November.

The race was in Georgia’s 7th Congressional District, which covers west Hall, Dawson, Forsyth, and Lumpkin Counties, as well as parts of Cherokee and Fulton Counties.

He ran against union camera technician Case Norton in the runoff after a crowded May 19 primary featuring four candidates.

"We are so excited for the energy here, excited to take this fight to Rich McCormick in November. I think this district is very hungry for some new leadership, some leadership grounded in the people here," Kozycki said on WDUN's election night show.

Kozycki was asked what sets him apart from McCormick.

"Leadership that really is grounded in some morality here is what we're looking to bring ... that's willing to bring people from both sides of the aisle together and have conversations to solve actual problems for the people here in our district," Kozycki added. "We're getting started tonight. There's no slowing down. This train is going straight through every single day, me and my team are flying up to D.C. in two weeks."

Kozycki has roughly 71% of the vote with 35% of the vote in as of 8:30 p.m.
