Drivers on State Route (SR) 59 in Banks and Jackson Counties could see some delays during the summer as a resurfacing project is set to begin.
According to the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT), the work will begin on June 15.
The project will cover roughly 7.3-miles of asphalt resurfacing and a two-foot shoulder widening along the highway.
Work will run from the SR 15 and U.S. 441 intersection in Jackson County to the Banks and Franklin County line.
Motorists should expect daily single-lane closures and traffic control measures will be in place to guide drivers.
The anticipated completion date is July 31, and work will occur Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Drivers are encouraged to slow down and stay alert.
