A seven-month-long investigation has resulted in one of the largest drug busts in the history of the Jackson County Sheriff's Office, leading to 20 arrests, the seizure of more than 51 kilograms of methamphetamine, and the filing of two RICO cases.

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office announced the results of the operation conducted on Tuesday, June 23, attributing the investigation’s success to a coordinated effort among the Georgia State Patrol, the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Gang Task Force and the Bartow County Sheriff’s Office. 

Authorities said the extensive investigation targeted a drug trafficking network operating throughout the region. In addition to the large quantity of methamphetamine seized, investigators recovered firearms, marijuana and other illegal narcotics during the operation.
