Details are currently limited, but safety officials in Dawson County are investigating an apparent fatal helicopter crash scene from late Friday night, May 29.

Multiple sources are quoting the Dawson County Fire Division Chief Johnny Irvin as confirming two people have died, while a third person was taken for treatment for her injuries to a nearby hospital.

Officials in Dawson County are working in the area of Mt. Vernon Drive this morning for what appears to be the crash scene investigation in a heavily wooded area of southwest Dawson County, but a social media post by the Dawson County Sheriff's Office has only said that further inquiries are directed to the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), who are reportedly heading to the crash scene this morning for further investigations.

The NTSB told AccessNorthGA early Saturday morning that it has, "received notification of the incident; however, we have no additional details to share at this time."​
