Michael Chad Evans, age 46 of Cumming, was first arrested on April 16 after Hall County Sheriff's Office investigators said they determined he had used a credit card belonging to Oakwood Arrow Auto Auction to purchase money orders for his own personal use.

Evans was reportedly an employee of Oakwood Arrow Auto Auction at the time.

After the initial arrest, Evans was charged with 36 counts of fraud, with investigators saying he had stolen at least $30,542 in the scheme. Since then, however, investigators say they've determined Evans had been operating the scheme since May of 2024 and deposited over $420,000 in fraudulent money orders into his bank account.

Evans was arrested again on Sunday, June 7, on 843 additional counts of financial transaction card fraud. As of Monday afternoon, he remained in the Hall County Jail without bond.
